The title says it all. I got up, I ate food, I had a really good Monday at work, and that’s it. The big news around here is that after no measurable snowfall in January and February for the first time since they started keeping track, there’s actually snow on the ground in Chicago. And more is on the way tonight.

My day didn’t revolve around the food, nor did it present a challenge. I decided I like my hibiscus tea better when it’s not mixed with green tea, and the fresh apples in the fruit delivery was a highlight of my afternoon. And maybe that in itself is remarkable. Today, the routine didn’t feel novel, just normal.

Whole30 Menu: Day 9

Breakfast:

  • Prosciutto egg cup
  • Fresh pineapple

Lunch:

  • Sweet potato chili (leftovers)
  • Avocado slices
  • Black grapes

Snacks:

  • Plantain chips
  • Apple with almond butter

Dinner:

  • Chicken & fried egg skillet

I baked a chicken breast with every kind of ground pepper I had in my spice collection – cayenne, ancho chile, and paprika, I think – and tossed it in a skillet with some hash browns, onion, mushrooms, garlic and jalapeno, sprinkled with some fresh squeezed lime juice.

How do I feel?

As I said above, it was an unremarkable day. I was curious to see if my sweet potato chili and avocado lunch would trigger a rosacea flare again and it didn’t. I was a bit tired this morning, but I’ll chalk that up to losing an hour of sleep on the Daylight Savings Time change. I was buried in my work today, so my focus was on that.

This is becoming normal, and that’s a good thing.
